Workstation: ten checks before getting equipped
This list is intended to help you assess your setup and choose an initial adjustment. It does not constitute a medical diagnosis or personalized ergonomic assessment.
A method to try with your current setup
-
Assess support and available space
Check foot support, seat adjustments, and legroom. Identify any obstacles that prevent the chair from being pushed back.
-
Examine tools and displays
Check the placement of the keyboard and mouse, and how clearly you can read documents. Try zooming or moving the display before adding any equipment.
-
Assess lighting and organization
Identify glare, access to accessories, and cables that restrict movement. Also check whether you can store your tools after use.
-
Choose a priority
From these ten checks—feet, seat, legs, keyboard, mouse, reading, glare, accessories, cables, storage—choose one difficulty to address first. Note the result after several sessions.
Decide on the next steps
Try one change at a time and observe the result over several sessions. If you still need any equipment, determine its purpose, then compare its dimensions and compatibility with your setup before buying.
