Setting up your desk: five trials with what’s already available
A setup that works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Test your workstation based on your usual movements.
Checks to carry out
-
Review the seat adjustments
Locate the controls and consult the manual. Try the height and backrest without changing all the settings at once.
-
Clear the space under the desk
Move boxes and objects that reduce legroom or prevent you from bringing the seat closer.
-
Bring the input devices closer
Place the keyboard and mouse where you can use them comfortably. Reserve the back of the desk for less frequently used accessories.
-
Adjust the display
Test the document zoom and screen position before considering a larger model.
-
Review after use
Keep the useful settings and note any remaining limitations. If pain persists, seek personalized advice.
Move on to the next step
Start with a simple change, then observe its use over several sessions. Define the role of any potential equipment before comparing models.
